Sports betting, now legalized by the U.S. Supreme Court gets a small boost in publicity with New Jersey casinos and bookmakers offering 019 Oscars betting.
We’;re having a chuckle about it in Las Vegas. It won’t be offered here. Even though we’re just 250 miles from Tinseltown, the action would be tiny and not worth the time and effort for Las Vegas casinos.
Our Las Vegas travel expert jay Kersting (see Jay’s bio here) might disagree. He and his wife Kathy are big WNBA fans and are season ticket holders for Las Vegas Aces games. They got the bug while attending the University of Tennessee when the Lady Vols under the late Pat Summit was as hot a ticket as Vols football.
You can bet on WNBA games in Las Vegas, but it’s tiny action, Jay might say if we take WNBA action, why not do the Oscars? He may have a point but for now, if you want to bet this year’s Oscars, you’ll have to hit the road to New Jersey.
Looking for a big payday? The bookmaker William Hill has the movie Vice as the long-shot to win the Best Picture award. at +2500, meaning that’s what you’d win if wagering $100.
Heck, Caesar’s sportsbook listed a trifecta for wagering. Good luck with that!.
I’ll report if there is anything unusual to come out of the winners and losers. But I can pass along one winning handicap to you:
Join Jay Kersting and I for another Las Vegas Travel Tips episode in the next couple of days. Big news is being made here, with two new casino hotels, a downtown convention expansion, and a name change for a Las Vegas Strip casino.
